golden mean

Golden Mean, Golden Ratio

0.61803398874989484820458683436564

This number can be defined as

1/x = x+1

or calculated this way

(√5 - 1)/2

The ancient Greeks firured this number, used as a proportion, was the most beautiful and many ancient Greek buildings show that proportion in their shape

I like to calculate it by entering 4870847 into the calculator and pressing the square root sign 5 times (gives you 1.61803398874989 which is the inverse of the Golden mean or 1 plus the golden mean to 14 decimals of accuracy) or 2207 and press the square root 4 times (1.618034)
